It took a while to get out of the 9 to 5 (more like 8.30 to 8.30) life of working in an agency, but after setting up F*King Creative in 2009, I slowly realised that we didn't need to clock in, hold endless meetings to talk crap or act like a robotic-design-machine where you stuffed a brief in one end and money came out the other. Great ideas and good design will come easily when you put yourself in the right situation. For me, it's being out in nature on a bike, with the fam or walking the dogs, my thoughts flow and that's when the bangers come out!
Have you found your happy place?
Being creative isn't a job roll for a particular type of person, it's in us all. It's our duty through life to experiment with things and find out what we're good at and what we like the look of! From the moment you told a parent you didn't like those weird-looking shoes they'd picked out for you in Clarks or applied lipstick to Barbies hair because blonde looks cool with pink stripes or even licked the blood off a scab you'd knocked to see what it tasted like, you were thinking beyond the norm, mixing it up, being creative.
Aspiring to have my own brand to be proud of that reflected what I'm in to but also be something others think is pretty cool too is what I've always tried to aim for and when we started printing T-shirts, Stickers and Mugs, guess what, people seemed to love 'em. We're even running our own online store
to give you the chance to be "F*King Creative" - there's nothing to stop you selling great stuff online too!
So tell me, are you F*King Creative, do you have cool ideas to try and would you like me to help?
Hell yeah!
It's all about the finer details...
Sure, most people can take a pretty good photo these days or grab a stock image to use in their design project but sometimes it's the finer details that add the finishing touch. Using the slider below, scrub back and forth to see the original warehouse image we used for TUK Shoes against the adjusted version where we added some grain, an old creased photograph and some distressed framing to finish it off.
These effects were then lifted and applied to a range of other photos using Photoshop to make them all look as part of a set for the upcoming web project!
Well, if I was you, I'd definitely check out some of the goods in my shop
; ) but we could also have a chat on the blower, hit me up with an email
or meet for coffee / beer if that takes your fancy, and get cracking on some new ideas for your next venture!
